We are really grateful for the generosity shown to Skipton Food Bank.
Just so you know, donated food and other essentials are organised and packaged in either single or family parcels before being given out to those referred to us by local support agencies.
We are putting all Financial donations to good use supporting the running of the Food Bank. As well as using money to buy food we also use it to run our holistic service which we hope helps people in the long term and reduces the need for food bank use. This is now all based at The House on Otley Street (part of Skipton Baptist Church). We still use St Andrews Church Hall to receive, store and pack our food donations.
At the House we offer all those using our service a warm welcome with tea, coffee and a welcoming environment, we have trained volunteers and staff who can listen to people and hopefully understand where they are at. We aim to signpost people to other forms of support, both practical and emotional. We also have now in each of our sessions a trained advisor from our local citizens advice bureau who can see people using the food bank when they collect their food parcel and start there and then giving advice about benefits, housing, bills etc.... Also in house we run a CAP (Christians against poverty) debt centre this is a person centred service, seeing clients face to face for debt support, this is a service the church has been offering for many years with an experienced debt coach and great results.
Alongside the foodbank sessions in the House the church runs a Renew space (a space where it is ok to not be ok). There are refreshments, welcoming volunteers, things to do and an optional prayer space.
We are really pleased with all we have to offer and really want to thank all our donors past and present – without you we couldn’t meet the needs that we are doing.
If you want to support us financially below is the way to do it.
